Woman dies after being hit by van

An elderly woman has died after being hit by a van as she was walking along a street on Teesside.

Rose Swan, of Tibbersly Avenue in Billingham, died from her injuries after she was struck by the transit van in Wolviston Road in the town.

The 84-year-old widow was a grandmother of two.

Police are appealing for information about the incident which happened opposite the Conservative Club at about 2210 GMT on Tuesday.
