Headcams to tackle street crime

Police officers wearing headgear with cameras have been patrolling the streets of Teesside to tackle anti-social and drunken behaviour.

Officers, wearing the tiny cameras clipped to their helmets, have been on duty Hartlepool and Stockton.

The devices were originally piloted in Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland.

Footage taken can be used as evidence in court cases, and it is hoped the cameras will deter anti-social behaviour in the area.
