Missing driver found after search

A body has been discovered following a major search which began after an unoccupied car was found in a river in East Cumbria.

Police said the woman's body was found on Wednesday morning and the search, involving a police underwater team and an RAF helicopter, was called off.

Officers were alerted after a car was spotted in the River Dee, between Sedbergh and Dent, on Tuesday evening.

Investigations have begun into the identity of the woman.

A number of local search and rescue teams were involved in the operation and Cumbria Police has thanked everyone for their help.
