Body of local man found in river

The body of a man has been washed up in a river in Cumbria.

Police were called to the River Esk at Mossband in Longtown near Carlisle after reports a body had been washed up onto the banks of the river.

On arrival at the area, known to be popular with anglers, they discovered the body of a man they believed to a 73-year-old who lived locally.

An investigation has been launched into the incident on Friday but police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
