Patients to aid diabetes services

People with diabetes in Cumbria are to be asked to help improve services for other patients with the disease.

NHS Cumbria will set up a new group aimed at allowing experts to match patients' needs better and make services more accessible.

Health bosses say there are 20,000 people with diabetes in the county and over the next 18 years the figure will rise by two thirds.

The county's primary care trust will work with Diabetes UK on the project.
