Heart baby Theo is laid to rest

Theo Davis
Baby Theo died in hospital after suffering complications

The funeral has taken place of a Cumbrian baby, born with half a heart who battled through six operations.

Theo Davis from Keswick was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and was awaiting a donor organ.

The 14-month-old appeared to recover and was allowed home for a time with parents Rebecca Giles and Ryan Davis.

But he died in hospital a week ago after developing complications. A service was held at St John's Church in Keswick on Friday.

The couple have appealed for bereaved parents to consider donating their babies' organs to transplant organisations.

Theo was given just weeks to live without a heart transplant in June.

But he amazed doctors two months later when he began breathing on his own, and was taken off the transplant list and allowed to go home.
