Sunken boat to remain underwater

A boat which sank in a lake in Cumbria will remain underwater, police investigating the incident have said.

Underwater search teams have located the cabin cruiser which was reported to have sunk close to the shore at Sandwick Bay in Ullswater on Monday.

There are no plans to recover it for reasons of cost and the fact that it does not pose a danger to the public.

Police are still attempting to trace the owner of the 24ft (7.3m) vessel and have renewed an appeal for information.

They also want to speak to a man seen leaving the scene in a silver dinghy, who may be a key witness.
