Campaign targets speed hotspots

Bad drivers in a Cumbrian town are being warned to slow down or risk being caught by police during a new campaign.

In recent weeks officers in Wigton have received several complaints from residents about dangerous driving and badly maintained vehicles.

To tackle the problem officers will be out in force at speeding hotspots throughout September.

They will be clocking motorists' speed and carrying out checks on tyres and exhausts, a force spokesman said.
