Grant promotes wood burn heating

Residents in an area of the Lake District are to get an environmentally-friendly heating system.

The new wood-burning system will also provide homes in Thirlmere, near Keswick, with hot water.

The Lake District Sustainability Fund has given a grant of £20,000 for two boiler houses to be built which will be fuelled by surrounding woodland.

Pipes will also be installed to carry hot water to houses which will have their own meters.
