'Bandit' cycle routes opens

A new cycle trail through land known as "bandit" country 300 years ago has opened to bikers in Cumbria.

The Border Reivers Cycle Trail takes a tour of the border country where thieves, murderers and rustlers would hide out because of its remoteness.

Aimed at cyclists, walkers and horse riders, its three circular routes, begin and end in Longtown.

The 100-mile trail is backed by Carlisle City Council and the Longtown Market Town Initiative.
