Walker dies after falling 150ft

A man died after falling 150ft (45m) while out walking in a Lake District mountain range.

The man, who has not yet been named, was walking with two friends when the accident occurred on Wednesday morning.

Police said he fell from Jack's Rake at Stickle Tarn, in the Langdale Pikes mountain range.

His friends raised the alarm and police, a helicopter from RAF Boulmer and the Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue team attended.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said the man died at the scene.
