Road hazard as drains are stolen

Road users and pedestrians are being warned about safety risks after a spate of drain cover thefts.

Police said a number of gullies have been stolen in the Copeland area probably for their scrap metal value.

They warned pedestrians, motorists and cyclists to be on their guard for any holes in the road where covers have been stolen.

Cumbria Police urged scrap metal dealers who are offered gully covers to get in touch.
