Girl blown from cliffs onto rocks

A 14-year-old girl had to be rescued from rocks in Cumbria after she was blown from cliffs by high winds.

Whitehaven Coastguard and the RNLI St Bees inshore lifeboat were called on Sunday afternoon after being alerted by the girl's sister.

She was eventually airlifted by Sea King helicopter to the West Cumberland Infirmary in Whitehaven.

It is believed she was knocked unconscious in the fall and is being treated for wrist and head injuries.
