Pedestrian dies after van crash

A pedestrian has been killed in a collision in Cumbria.

The woman, believed to be a German tourist, was struck by a transit van outside the bus station on Backhall Road in Kendal.

She suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, but later died.

The road was closed following the incident on Thursday afternoon, and disruption to bus services continued throughout the afternoon.
