Woman is killed as car hits wall

A 36-year-old woman has died in a car crash in West Cumbria.

Police said Jacqueline Glencross, from Maryport, died early on Saturday when the car which she was travelling in hit a wall on the A596 near Flimby.

A 43-year-old man from Salterbeck, who was also in the car, is being treated for serious injuries at Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary.

The road was closed for more than three hours and Cumbria Police have appealed for witnesses.
