Suspensions over YouTube attack
Several students have been suspended from a Cumbrian college after a video of a boy being assaulted was posted on video sharing website YouTube.

The footage, entitled "Carlisle College Fight" shows the teenager being punched and stamped on, before observers join in by kicking him in the head.

The victim was not badly hurt and YouTube has now removed the video.

College principal Moira Tattersall called the incident "shocking" and said police were investigating.

The attack is believed to have taken place on Tuesday, before the video surfaced, and was witnessed by a passer-by who alerted police.

Cyber bullying

A college spokesman said: "We immediately commenced a formal investigation in accordance with our disciplinary procedures.

"Carlisle College does not tolerate bullying or harassment in any form and we are treating this matter very seriously.

"Now that this video has been brought to our attention, we have made the police aware and will continue to fully co-operate with them in their investigations."

The college has pro-active security procedures and an anti-cyber bullying policy, he added.
