Driver killed in high winds named

Police have identified a lorry driver who died when his vehicle crashed in high winds on the M6 in Cumbria.

Richard Young from Stirling, Scotland, was on the northbound carriageway near Tebay, when his HGV blew onto its side.

The 45-year-old, of Baxter Road, Fallin, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Thursday.

A 50-mile stretch of the motorway was closed to all traffic as winds gusted up to 70mph (112km/h), and several lorries were blown over.
