Clean-up of graffiti-hit bridge
A badly vandalised bridge in a Cumbrian town is to get a makeover from people ordered to do community service.

Police asked Maryport residents about their concerns and they asked for action to be taken over the graffiti on the A594 footbridge.

On Thursday, police and the probation service have organised a team to re-paint the bridge.

They will also tackle the alleyway on Ellenborough Old Road which has also been badly vandalised in recent months.

Pc Adrian Tyson, of Cumbria Police, said: "Acts of vandalism, such as graffiti, will not be tolerated and these areas will be checked regularly and any future incidents will be dealt accordingly.

"The residents of Maryport deserve to live in an area they can be proud of which visitors can also enjoy."
