Port regeneration gets £8m boost
Waterfront development in Barrow
How the Waterfront development will look
Work is due to begin on Barrow's multi-million pound Waterfront dockland regeneration project.

The first step will be to lay the foundations for the Ramsden Business Park that will create up to 2,000 jobs.

The North West Development Agency (NWDA) has awarded £8m so work can begin and said the success of the project was "absolutely critical".

The business park development will take up to 15 years to complete and attract much-needed private investment.

Steven Broomhead, NWDA chief executive, said: "The successful delivery of the Barrow masterplan is absolutely critical to the future economic development of South Cumbria.

"Ramsden Business Park is the first step in the development of the waterfront, an area of immense opportunity."
