College opens after total revamp
A Cumbrian college which has been modernised at a cost of £6m is to be officially opened.

Carlisle College, on the city's Victoria Place, was founded in 1954 and has been almost completely rebuilt.

New facilities include a learning resource centre, engineering and motor vehicle workshops, science laboratories and wireless IT technology.

The building, containing £360,000 of new equipment, will be opened by former pupil Eric Martlew MP on Friday.

It was funded with support from the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) Cumbria.
