Labour retain control of Copeland

Despite making no gains at Copeland, Labour have remained in control of the borough council.

The Conservatives made a small number of gains at the expense of the independent councillors.

But it was not enough to wrestle control from Labour, who remain strongly in control after no change in their total of 31 seats.

The Tories increased their total from 16 to 19, but left the Independents with only one remaining seat.
