Concrete barriers installed on M6
New concrete crash barriers will be installed on parts of the M6 extension in Cumbria.

They will replace the traditional steel central reservation on sections of the extended motorway between Carlisle and Guards Mill.

The Highways Agency said tests had shown the barriers had significant cost and safety benefits.

A 5.8-mile section of the A74 is being upgraded because of its poor accident record and heavy usage.
