The £27m order will lead to an expansion of the firm's fleet
Britain's best known road haulage company, Eddie Stobart has placed a £27m order for a fleet of 500 new trucks.

It is the largest ever order received by Scania GB, which will provide the Cumbrian firm with the first batch of trucks in March.

Half the order will replace older trucks while the remainder is part of an expansion of the firm's fleet.

A £13m deal for 700 new trailers has also been placed with SDC Trailers.

The Scania GB order also includes two fire appliance vehicles for use at Carlisle Airport, which is owned by Eddie Stobart's parent company, WA Developments International Limited.

The firm is putting an order for a further 100 trucks out to tender.
