Tributes to river death canoeist
David Thorne
The outdoors was both a job and a hobby for David Thorne
The family of an outdoor instructor who was swept away when his canoe capsized in a river in Cumbria has paid tribute to the "much loved" father-of-two.

David Thorne, 49, from Talybont-on-Usk, in Powys, was canoeing on the River Lune near Sedbergh on Wednesday when the two-person vessel overturned.

The other person swam to safety and emergency services were called in when Mr Thorne failed to surface.

His body was later discovered five miles down river.

In a statement, Mr Thorne's family said: "He loved the countryside and was an outdoor instructor. It was both his work and his hobby.

"He was much loved by his family, and will be sadly missed by them and his large circle of friends."
