Elderly man killed in road crash
An elderly motorist has died while attempting to cross a dual-carriageway in Cumbria.

The 82-year-old from Crook was fatally injured when his Honda Jazz was hit by a white Transit van on the A591 at Ratherheath near Kendal.

Both vehicles were knocked off the road by the collision. The van driver, a 20-year-old man from Barrow-in-Furness, was unhurt.

A stretch of the road was closed for almost five hours after the crash.
