Funeral for waterfall plunge girl

Laura McDairmant died after falling onto rocks at Black Loch
The funeral of a teenager who died after falling during a holiday in Scotland was being held on Friday.

Laura McDairmant, 15, of Wetheral near Carlisle, died from head injuries after falling on to rocks 30ft (9m) above a waterfall in the Galloway Forest Park.

She had been at Barcaple Christian Centre near Castle Douglas on an outdoors activity holiday.

The funeral service was due to take place at Holy Trinity and St Constantine Church in Wetheral.

Laura had been taking part in a pool jumping activity at a waterfall on the Grey Mare's Tail burn at Black Loch, near Newton Stewart, when she fell.

She was airlifted to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and her parents were with her when she died.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary and the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority are investigating the death.
