Five people have been killed and another is in a serious condition after a two-car crash in Cumbria.
It happened when a Suzuki Vitara and a Honda, carrying four people, collided on the A6 at Scalesceugh near Carlisle.
All the occupants of the Honda, who were from the Penrith area, died at the scene and the 72-year-old driver of the Suzuki, from Dalston, died in hospital.
The crash happened on the same stretch of road where three men were killed in a head-on collision in 2004.
Car in flames
A woman, also from Dalston, who was a passenger in the Suzuki, is in a serious condition at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
The four victims travelling in the Honda - two men and two women - are thought to have been in their late teens or early twenties, police said on Thursday.
The car, which was travelling towards Carlisle, burst into flames after it collided with the Suzuki.
A spokesman for the Cumbria Ambulance Service said three ambulances were called to the scene of the crash at 1945 BST.
He said: "Four people were initially thought to have been killed, but another person has since died in hospital."
A Cumbria Police spokesman added: "Family liaison officers are currently with relatives of the victims."
