New bus service for health centre
A new pilot bus service for people who use a Cumbrian health centre is being launched next month.

The county council has provided £10,000 for the bus to Stanley Street health centre in Ulverston, initially for a six-month trial.

The Stagecoach service will serve residential areas, including Rydal Road, Well Lane, Oakwood Drive, Urswick Road, Victoria Road and Neville Street.

Fares will be 85p single and £1.45 return, with concessions available.

The bus will need to attract enough passengers to ensure its future, or secure cash from other sources.

More details of the route and timetable will be available at GP surgeries, council offices on Cross Street, the library and tourist information centre ahead of the service's launch on 9 May.

Dianne Whitehead, neighbourhood development officer for Ulverston, said: "We've tried to make the route and the timetable as user-friendly as possible. What we need now to keep it running is for of the people of Ulverston to make good use of it."
