A castle's first Fool for more than 350 years is to be become the North of England's official jester.
Jem Famous, from Ambleside, was crowned the new Fool of Muncaster after a competition at the Lake District Castle in June.
The castle was home to the original Tom Fool in the 16th Century.
Jesters and entertainers will gather at the castle on Wednesday as Jem becomes the National Guild of Jesters first northern member.
Jem's winning performance in June included juggling knives on top of a 7ft uni-cycle.
Muncaster has been home to the Pennington family since at least 1208. Tom Fool was the inspiration for the Fool in Shakespeare's King Lear, giving the word "tomfoolery" to the English language.
Peter Frost Pennington said: "We're very pleased that the new Fool of Muncaster will now become an official member of the National Guild of Jesters.
"Some people believe Tom Fool's ghost haunts the castle and grounds, so no doubt he'll be keeping a professional eye on the proceedings."
