Children show off business skills
Young entrepreneurs from schools in Carlisle are selling their home crafted goods at a special trade fair.

The annual event, at Carlisle Cathedral on Saturday, will feature goods ranging from clocks to house name plates.

The fair is part of a course where children aged 15 to 19 run a business for a year with the support of volunteer advisers from businesses.

They elect a board of directors, sell shares to finance the company and manufacture and sell the products.

The Company Programme course is part of Young Enterprise - a charity which has programmes sponsored by local businesses and organisations.

Carlisle City Council leader Mike Mitchelson said: "The trade fair gives the pupils the chance to compete against fellow businesses in a realistic trading environment."

Trading will be between 1230 GMT and 1530 GMT and the judging of the best stall taking place at 1400 GMT.
