Dog is hurled out of speeding car

A dog is recovering after being thrown out of a speeding car in Cumbria.

The black Labrador-cross bitch was recovered in a shocked state by onlookers who saw it thrown out of the car and roll along the road.

Police said it was lucky not to have been knocked over in the incident on Saturday afternoon.

The small, old, white car, possibly a Nissan Micra, was driven by a woman with long dark hair. Police want anyone with information to contact them.

The dog, which has recently given birth to puppies, is being cared for in approved kennels, police added.
