Man in hospital after house fire

A man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in his kitchen.

Two crews from Whitehaven were called to the blaze at Dent Place, Cleator Moor, on Monday night.

The fire had started in the kitchen of the house and firefighters wearing breathing equipment put it out using a hose reel and a fire blanket.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance and the crews returned to their base just under an hour later.
