Driver sentenced over road death
A driver who killed a man while speeding on the wrong side of the road has been sent to a young offenders' institute for five-and-a-half years.

Father-of-one John Little, 31, died after being hit outside a pub in Dalston, Cumbria.

Frankie Hodgson, 20, of Peel Street, Carlisle, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.

Two others were also sentenced on Thursday in connection with the incident in April last year.

Hodgson was also banned from driving for six years at Carlisle Crown Court.

Claire Brumwell, 20, from Burnrigg, Carlisle, who was driving another car and admitted dangerous driving was given a 240 hour community punishment order and banned from driving for three years.

Hodgson's passenger Dennis Lyon, 19, from Shadygrove Road, was jailed for 12 months for perverting the course of justice by failing to stop at the scene of an accident and setting fire to Hodgson's car.
