£22,000 road safety work to start
Work on a £22,000 scheme to improve safety on a stretch of road in Cumbria is due to start.

The money is being spent on the A590 on the approach to Levens village, and the project will be carried out by the Highways Agency.

It will include signs near the junction and line markings on the approach to the C5059 to Levens village.

The work is due to start on 22 March and there will be lane closures over the three weeks of the scheme.

Highways Agency project manager Peter Hamer said: "We are continually looking at ways to improve safety on our road network.

"The new signing and lining at the junction will give drivers greater awareness of the junction, making it safer."
