Arty future for public loos
A former public convenience in South Lakeland is set to be turned into an artist's studio.

The toilets on Long Lane, Goadsbarrow, were bought at auction for £18,000 by Nick and Marie Twitchett in February last year.

The Long Lane loos were sold as part of South Lakeland District Council's cost-cutting toilet closure programme.

The Cambridge couple had originally hoped to convert the property for use as a holiday home.

Now planning permission has been granted for the building to be converted into an artist's studio.

Aldingham Parish Council said it was an "inspired" proposal which would prevent the building from falling into disrepair and becoming an eyesore.
