Workers at the Sellafield nuclear reprocessing plant in Cumbria have voted to end a pay row, which has resulted in damaging strike action.
Union members voted 6 - 1 in favour of an Acas-brokered deal, that shift bonus rates for blue and white collar workers should be equalised by October 2006.
Officials from the main unions involved, the GMB and Amicus, have welcomed the result, which they say vindicated their tough stance.
Workers walked out for the first time in almost 30 years at the end of last year in a row over the pay gap between white collar workers and manual staff.
Strike action was called off after an agreement between the unions and British Nuclear Fuels Limited (BNFL) at the conciliation service Acas.
Workers were balloted on whether to accept the new pay deal aimed at ending the long running dispute.
Union shop stewards at the site, owned by BNFL recommended acceptance of the improved offer.
In a statement, BNFL said: "Sellafield management is obviously pleased at the outcome of the ballot that means that we can put the last few difficult months behind us.
"The coming months present some important challenges for everyone on the site as we prepare for the formation of the Nuclear Decommissioning Agency, and continue our push to make ourselves their contractor of choice at Sellafield.
"The most important thing now is for both management and workforce to work together on the key priorities of site remediation and delivering on our customer's contracts."
