Consortium 'to buy' Warwickshire tourism site

A consortium says it has reached an agreement with liquidators to buy the website and brand of a firm promoting tourism in parts of Warwickshire.

South Warwickshire Tourism Ltd, which traded under the name Shakespeare Country, stopped operating in March with the loss of 17 jobs.

The consortium includes Tony Merrygold, Sally Carrick and technology company New Vision Group.

The agreement does not include tourist information centres, it added.

The consortium said the three partners had secured the physical assets of the company.

Mr Merrygold, owner of The Open Road Classic Car Hire, is the chairman of the South Warwickshire Association of Tourist Attractions.
