'Good Samaritan' hurt in attack

Police have issued a photograph of the injuries sustained by a man who was attacked by teenagers in Coventry.

Andrew Folan, 40, from Coventry, was attacked when he challenged a group of five to six youths who were trying to steal his son's BMX bike, police said.

DC Mark Olden said: "Mr Folan was playing the role of a good Samaritan and was subject to a vicious attack for his trouble."

He was attacked in an alleyway off Walsgrave Road on Sunday 25 October.

Releasing details of the incident, West Midlands Police appealed for witnesses.

DC Olden added: "This was an unprovoked attack and we would urge anyone with information or any witnesses to contact the police."

Mr Folan was treated in hospital for multiple injuries after the attack which happened behind the KFC about 1930 GMT.
