Police arrest 21 in drugs raids

Twenty one people have been arrested in police raids connected to conspiracy to supply drugs.

Eighteen were held after searches in Warwick, Leamington and Kenilworth in Warwickshire. Two were arrested in the West Midlands and one in Oxfordshire.

Seventeen men and four women, aged from 22 to 56, were arrested over conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Arrests were made as part of Operation Laser, Warwickshire Police's initiative to cut organised crime.

'Huge success'

Action was carried out by nearly 250 members of the force.

The three arrested outside Warwickshire are believed to have been involved in "criminal activity impacting on communities in the county", police said.

Ch Insp Martin McNevin described Tuesday's operation as a "huge success".

Volunteers from the force delivered leaflets explaining the aim of the operation to every household in the local area after each warrant was carried out.
