Arsonists are thought to be behind the fire, which broke out on Sunday evening

A Coventry school has been damaged in an arson attack.

A single-storey science block was affected by fire at Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School in Potters Green Road, Coventry, on Sunday evening.

Six crews were sent to the scene and "rapid and aggressive action" was taken to save 80% of the block, West Midlands Fire Service said.

It took two hours to put the fire out. Fire investigation teams and police continued working during the night.

The impact of smoke damage was still being assessed by the school, the fire service added.

The school was shut to Years Seven and Eight on Monday. It was expected to reopen fully on Tuesday.
