Station bridge shuts for repairs

A pedestrian bridge which links Coventry's railway station to the city centre has closed for seven weeks.

The Manor Road bridge, which lies across the city's ring road, is to be resurfaced, cleaned and painted.

Alternative pedestrian routes have been signposted and the council said the result would be a much improved bridge.

A spokesman said the work was part of a package used to attract Severn Trent to move to the city, which would result in more people using the bridge.

Severn Trent is moving to new offices in St John's Street.
