Dairy show to move after 30 years

One of the biggest dairy events in England is moving from Warwickshire to Birmingham after more than 30 years.

The Dairy Event and Livestock Show has been at Stoneleigh Park in Kenilworth for the last 34 years but has "outgrown facilities", a spokesman said.

More than 450 exhibitors attend the annual event, which will be held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC).

The owners of Stoneleigh Park said the move was an "enormous shame" but accepted the event had expanded.

"We do not have the expanse of undercover space that they need and they have chosen the NEC," a spokesman said.

The event will be held at the NEC from 2010.

The Royal Show, one of Britain's best-known annual farming events, also held at Stoneleigh Park will end this year because of falling visitor numbers.

The Royal Agricultural Society of England (Rase) has said it is no longer financially viable.
