A man who was originally imprisoned for stabbing a police officer is now wanted on suspicion of armed robbery.

Jason Ross Sufi, who is also known as Jason Williams, was given early release at the start of 2008.

He is wanted in connection with an armed robbery at Iago Jewellers, in Stratford-upon-Avon, on 2 June, 2008, Warwickshire Police said.

Sufi, 29, is also wanted in connection with house burglaries in the Surrey and Thames Valley Police areas.

In the armed robbery at the jewellers two men wielding a knife and an axe threatened the shop owner and stole antique jewellery on display in the front window.

Crimewatch appeal

One of the men has been caught and successfully prosecuted, Warwickshire Police said.

Sufi is described as being of medium build, 5ft 8ins (1.7m), with short black hair and a Mediterranean appearance.

He originally comes from the West Midlands but has connections in London and Scotland and should not be approached, police said.

He is due to be featured on Crimewatch broadcast on BBC One at 2100 GMT on Thursday.
