Fifty jobs could go from college

About 50 jobs could be lost at Warwickshire College following plans to shift about £10m of funding away from some adult courses.

College bosses said they wanted to focus on government-funded courses that gave students a vocational skill or qualification instead.

The college, which has its headquarters in Leamington Spa, is now in a 30-day consultation with staff and unions.

Its principal said it would make the college more efficient.

The college has also signed a contract with Aston Martin to provide training and support to the 600 workers who lost their jobs last month.

Principal Ioan Morgan said: "This restructuring of the college, although painful and regrettable, will ensure that the college continues to be at the forefront of excellence in training and education.

"We will make every effort to protect classroom quality and to perpetuate our outstanding teaching and service to students and companies."
