Woman held after children injured

Police are appealing for information after two children were found with "serious injuries" in a building in Leamington Spa in Warwickshire.

An anonymous caller reported seeing a distressed woman in Adelaide Road, close to the River Leam at 0210 GMT on Sunday, Warwickshire Police said.

The badly hurt children were then found in a nearby property shortly after.

A woman, 39, was arrested in connection with the incident and police want to trace the anonymous male caller.

'Vital information'

The 999 call was made from a telephone box at the junction of Adelaide Road and Archery Road in Leamington Spa.

Det Insp James Essex said: "I would urge [the caller] to contact the incident room as soon as possible as he might have vital information which would assist the investigation."

Police also want to speak to the driver of a private hire vehicle who dropped off in Adelaide Road at about 1700 GMT on Saturday, who they say may have valuable information.

Anyone who was in the Adelaide Road area between 0150 GMT and 0215 GMT on Sunday who may have seen someone acting suspiciously is asked to contact police or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously.
