Explosive devices stolen from car

A box of explosive devices which are used to warn train drivers of hazards ahead have been stolen in Warwickshire.

The devices, which were stolen from a Ford pick-up truck in Rugby on Sunday morning, could cause injury if detonated, Warwickshire Police warned.

The explosives are designed to be fixed to railway lines and go off when a train passes over, police said.

Anyone who found the box, stolen from the vehicle in Newland Street, is urged to immediately hand it to police.

Sgt Rob Gainer said: "It is possible that the box of devices has been discarded by the offenders and could be dangerous if picked up by a member of the public."

A laptop computer, digital camera and paperwork was also taken from the vehicle.
