A Warwickshire couple who were trapped in Thailand when demonstrators closed Bangkok Airport have returned home.

Angela and James McDonnell, of Nuneaton, arrived at Manchester Airport via Abu Dhabi on Tuesday evening.

But they said their four-day ordeal would not put them off returning to Thailand in the future.

However Mrs McDonnell said she and her fellow travellers had been critical of the quality of information provided by the British Embassy in Bangkok.

She said: "We were all saying that the British Embassy were not updating their website with any kind of news.

"We felt a little bit that our embassy was kind of playing catch-up all the time.

"We were telling them things they didn't know."

The Foreign Office said embassy staff had worked round the clock to help get British tourists home.
