Soil plant will be houses instead

Proposed site for the plant
The land is being given up for development instead

A proposed soil treatment plant in Warwickshire will not be built after the site's owner decided to give the land up for development instead.

Hundreds of people had protested about Thermal and Chemical Soil Remediation's (TCSR) plans for a plant at Judkins Quarry in Tuttle Hill, Nuneaton.

Warwickshire County Council had given planning permission for the centre.

But landowner Waste Recycling Group Ltd (WRG) has now said it wants to develop the land for housing.

The company has drawn up redevelopment plans which have been seen by the county council.

Council leader Alan Farnell said the regulations for the soil recycling site had been robust and accurate.

"But that does not mean to say we can't do something better and that is what we have done," he said.
