Hunt for jewellery thieves' van

Officers trying to trace armed robbers who took hundreds of pounds of jewellery and £7,000 cash in Rugby want information about a blacked-out van.

Two masked raiders, one carrying a shotgun, went into a function room at Three Horseshoes Hotel in Sheep Street, on 5 November.

They demanded people hand over jewellery and cash before getting into a blue Peugeot box van waiting nearby.

The van had blackened windows which police said is not standard.

Officers would like anyone who has seen such a van or any garages which has been asked to perform such work on a vehicle to contact them.

The raiders got away with a large amount of Victorian jewellery, Cartier bangles, three Rolex watches, 300 diamond rings and a large quantity of gold.

The raid took place shortly before 1430 GMT.
