Council cannot save blind centre

Coventry City Council has said it cannot afford to save the city's Society for the Blind.

The charity Sense, which has funded the centre in Earlsdon for several years, said it would not be able to afford the running costs beyond 2010.

The centre had applied to the city council for the money.

But the authority has said it cannot afford that and has encouraged the centre to apply for grants in order to meet its costs.
